About
(In Sevilla)
Mi interesso di Rappresentazioni Sociali, Social Psychology of Economics, Analisi degli Atteggiamenti, Public Understanding of Science and Technology, Influenza sociale degli artefatti, Percezione Pubblica dei Rischi, Social Psychology of innovation and resistance to change (ultimo grande amore).
English Version
I was born in Southern Italy, a place that I left more than ten years ago.
Every time I am back there I see what a dear friend defined as “a paradise inhabited by devils.”
In my heart will always remain London where I lived for five years between attending an Master in Science in Social Research Methods at LSE and the rest of my PhD. Ended my PhD in Social Psychology at the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE), I enjoy discussing of social psychology research and social sciences in general. I’m interested in Social Representations, Social Psychology of Economics, Analysis of Attitudes, Public Understanding of Science and Technology, Social Influence of artefacts, Public Risk Perception, Social Psychology of innovation and resistance to change (the latest and pressing interest).
Living in London and at the same time finish a PhD was a very tough experience but with great moments. I became a convinced Londoner. Left the LSE I tried to work in Australia for the Australian government, but I shortly returned to Europe. After a period at the Institut Nicod of the École Nicod Normale Supérieure in Paris, now I am a Scientific Grant Holder at European Commission DG JRC – Institute for Prospective Technological Studies in Seville, Spain. I have published on academic journals such as Nature, Public Understanding of Science (of which I am also a reviewer) and JIMS. On JIMS I co-edited a special issue on Italy. Although my interests are primarily academic, I have always tried to engage politically and civically trying to bridge academic social sciences and society. For example, I have written for magazines like ItalianiEuropei, Il Ponte, Science and Society ‘, Oxygen, etc., for newspapers such as the Unita’, The Independent. Or, I contributed to a collective book edited by Feltrinelli titled “Sinistra senza Sinistra”.
But my biggest effort in that direction is that I co-edited “Italy Today, The sick man of Europe” published by Routledge. It is a collection of essays on Italy by Italian and foreign social scientists, with an interdisciplinary angle. More info can be found here.
My blog was initially born to keep in contact with Italy and my Italian friends, but after a while became something else, a place to exchange ideas that is open to anyone.
